March Forth

Over Thanksgiving break my Paw Paw gave me a book to put to use in my classroom- a teacher's almanac. It's filled with ideas for almost every day of the school year. I've used it a few times to make an announcement or two that they might find interesting. Today I was especially excited about using a joke from it:
Which is the only date that is a commandment? MARCH FOURTH!

First I tried it out on four students who were sitting near me when it came up that it was one of their birthdays. I told her that her birthday was the only date that was a commandment and yada yada did the punch line and even repeated it like it was a command in a big strong voice. No laughs. I said "Do you get it??? March forth??" And they just stared at me.

I have GOT to teach older kids.

This afternoon I attended an education job fair. It was good to get my feet wet in the whole process of talking to reps and finding out about qualifications. However most of the schools attending were charter schools, which I am not interested in. (If you want to know why, ask me separately.) Soon I will start applying to actual districts and really begin the lengthy and scary process of securing a teaching position. AHHHH!!!!!!!
